We have a stream here at the apartment and he’s gone wading a bunch of times, but that water isn’t even knee deep (his knee I mean). He’s never been in water deep enough to swim in, so today I thought it was time. We jumped in the car and drove over to Island Park, just down the street from where I used to live.
I found a nice shallow spot and we went in, it was only up to his knees. Then we walked down the river and it kept getting deeper, but he wasn’t scared at all. He did seem startled when he first found his feet weren’t touching the ground any more, but you can see, he wasn’t scared at all. I didn’t take any more video because he was jumping all over after that and I was worried about my phone getting wet.
We walked all over the park, and everywhere he saw a little bit of water he had to jump in and splash around for a few minutes. He didn’t like the area that had a lot of mushy leaves on the bottom, which is fine ’cause I didn’t like that spot either. I didn’t think he would be so brave, so I didn’t really plan for staying long, so after an hour I dragged him back to the car because I had gotten a lot of sun.
He’s next to me on the couch now, sleeping with his belly in the air and a big smile on his face. I’d take a picture, but I don’t want to disturb him. Happy dog, as it should be.
